Miku Smart Baby Monitor Review

February 13, 2020 No Comments

When it comes to adding your first baby to your family, or adding another… or another, Mamas are often on the hunt for reviews on products so they know how to decide. I am a huge fan of reading reviews but also social networking–I LOVE hearing from other Mamas on what works and what doesn’t! Of course, it’s always your decision in the end, but I am here to take something off your hands.  I’ve found the best, top of the line baby monitor around: I am happy to introduce to you, the Miku Smart Baby Monitor. I have been raving about it since it arrived on my doorstep just a few weeks ago.MIKU Smart Baby Monitor

Why Miku?

Last November I got in touch with a local group of Moms, one in particular, who hosts meet ups every couple months for Mamas to network and get together and talk all things motherhood. Working Moms? Yes! Stay at home Moms? Yes! 3 weeks postpartum? Of course! In fact, Jen Biswas, who is one of the hosts, is a Mama I went to high school with and I have been so inspired by her passion for motherhood. Check out her IG page and follow her for daily inspo on a variety of things!

I would also highly recommend, if you live in the Minneapolis area, to join one of her “Minne Mama Meet Ups” where you can network and spend time with other Mamas. At the November meet up, I got to talking with Jen and she shared that she had worked with Miku in her latest pregnancy and thought this monitor was everything and more. So, I reached out to them. I was lucky enough to be a part of their networking and influencer program, and they sent me this monitor to use and review with our newest addition coming any day now.

We spent the last couple weekends finishing up the baby’s room and I am so excited with how it turned out! It’s a smaller room, but I was able to sneak in my grandma’s rocking chair this time around, which I’m thrilled about. Between a hand me down crib and a free dresser, we were able to create a cute little room for our third and final babe.

Smarter than the Average Smart Device

From the moment I was accepted, I felt a rush of excitement. Their website–sleek, clean, and easy to navigate, is exactly what I expected to see when the monitor arrived. Sleep is one of the best things I’ve taught both of my children to do. You can read some of my tips on helping baby sleep by reading this post. Having children who nap during the day and sleep at night has been a game changer. It has allowed me to create additional time for things that I need to do or accomplish. This also includes having nightly, uninterrupted time with Ross. Can I get an AMEN!

Many Mamas have heard of things like the Owlet monitor– a device that’s worn on baby’s foot while they sleep to track breathing patterns, sleep/wake times, etc.

However, Miku is designed specifically so that it doesn’t require baby to wear anything. It does all of the tracking from above baby, wear it’s safest.  This was one of the most intriguing things to me with this monitor, is that it tracks all of these habits that I used to write down on paper or take a note on my phone. More importantly, it comes in analyzed and color-coded data. Perfect for a Type A person like me!

Aside from the latest technology in sleep tracking capabilities, I’m also more than impressed with the additional features it has: two-way talk, a plethora of white noise & lullabies, and speakers that rival any monitor I’ve seen on the shelf. Their commercial shows it in action and how powerful something like this can be, even if you’re Kim Kardashian, who was featured in People magazine sharing her interest in the high-tech features this monitor provides.

Out with the Old, In with the New

We have used and enjoyed the Motorola MBP36S for the last 4 years. It was great for having two cameras. We could have one in each room and access both of them at the same time. However, battery life was atrocious & we could never unplug the parent monitor, and it hasn’t held up in range like I thought it would. I’ve always wanted one I could bring outside at night and it doesn’t reach very far in our backyard.

That being said, the Miku is run through a security encrypted app on my phone and is connected to our secure in-home wifi. The analytics are top of the line. Seriously… look at the amazing data collection this monitor provides! Ross was also impressed when we opened the box. He shared, “You know it’s good when they provide the screwdriver for you!” It’s equipped with all of the tools to install it safely, including casing to go over the cord.

You Won’t Regret this Purchase

Being a Mama has so many challenges. Teaching your baby to sleep soundly, and most importantly, safely, is one of them. I am so excited to be able to use this monitor with our little wee one so soon! I will be able to rest easy, knowing how safe this will make me feel. Be sure to check out the website and use code BandofMamas10 for 10% off your purchase! And in addition, they have special discounts for teachers, students, and nurses, too.

Becoming a Mama of three has me feeling a ton of different emotions. I am ready to tackle them all, starting with labor and delivery. On both other occasions, feeling so strong and proud of my body. I felt like I could do anything I put my mind to. I’m going in with the same attitude and can’t wait to wrap this little one up with so much love! Check back soon for Murray Baby #3’s birth story… maybe it will be a Valentine’s Day baby!
