A Little Something for the Littles

November 19, 2018 No Comments

It’s really easy to go overboard when you’re buying presents, right? I didn’t realize how “cheap” toys were because I never really spent time looking for toys. But now that the kids are to that age, I’m starting to see how quickly Christmas can escalate to a holiday giftstravaganza!

Gifts are fun and important. But I want to teach the attitude of gratitude as well. Our son Brooks was born on Christmas, and because he gets to share his birthday with Jesus, you had better believe my kids will be hearing the meaning behind Christmas from day one. And not just how Brooks came to this world, but how Jesus did as well. I think we are pretty lucky to be able to share this special holiday!

I mentioned this before in a previous blog, about how Ross and I follow the “Something you want, Something you need, Something to wear, Something to read” in the way of gift giving. This way our kids get four things and a fun Santa gift to open on Christmas morning. Brooks will have his birthday presents, too. Someone mentioned maybe we should save some of his birthday presents until the summer so we can spread it out. Others said to come up with something special, like a tradition. Ross and I decided that to keep something extra special to do only on his birthday, we’re going to bring donuts & coffee to the hospital for all the nurses and doctors who devote their time to take care of the Mamas and Dads in the labor and delivery unit. They were so incredibly sweet to us last Christmas that we thought that would be a fun tradition to start.
And while experiences and traditions are great, of course we need ideas for presents. Here were some of the gifts I put on the list to consider for the littles this year! They are in the four categories I mentioned above.
